Pickles — Definitely a Texas Thang!

When I moved to Texas from Illinois, I had no idea how popular pickles were.

Up north, sure, people ate pickles. But in Texas, a lot of people eat pickles.

My wife eats them; all of her four sisters eat them; her brother eats them; when I step outside, everyone seems to be eating them; and pickles are even a food staple at movie theaters!

People even look at you strangely if you order a bucket of popcorn without a pickle or two.

It may sound like I am complaining, but the longer I’ve lived in Texas, the more I have embraced and appreciated the brined cucumber.

Sometimes I wonder, how did this happen?
